Panui - Term 3, Week 8, 2023
Term 3 has been a fun one! The school has been a hive of activity and we have been busy with daily fitness, literacy and numeracy learning, art, and grandparents day. And we are not slowing down anytime soon! We have the Tatarakihi kapa haka festival, our art exhibition, pet day and cross country all coming up.
We had an amazing turn out on grandparents day with over 120 grandparents joining us. I would like to use this opportunity to also thank our wonderful PTA for their mahi on the day - we couldn't keep up with the food demand! Photos of this special day will be in the photo gallery on our website early next week so check in there and have a look.
Great news! For a number of years the muddy grass berms on Glasgow Street have been an issue. We have recently received confirmation from the council informing us that there are plans to seal these berms on both sides of Glasgow street starting from the Glasgow / Tawhiti Road intersection. 🙌
Sarah Neyens is on the hunt for skateboards decks for Kauri's art project. So if you have any hiding anywhere at home, please send them her way!
And lastly, we are still having a number of children arrive at school before 8:30. Some arriving as early as 8am. If you need to get to work before 8:30 in the morning, please make before school arrangements for your child. Teachers have meetings, planning, and preparation to do before school so classrooms will not be open and there is no supervision for children until after 8:30. (Bus children are an exception)
3 weeks until Pet Day! We have been blown away with calf and lamb entries...the most we have had in years which we are really excited about. 🙌
All animals that are coming NEED to be registered - this includes calves, lambs and any animals coming to the parade in the afternoon. Above is a list of those children who we have received registrations from. If your child is planning on bringing an animal and you are yet to register, please fill in this form. Registrations close this coming Friday and no late registrations will be accepted sorry!
We will send out a separate HERO notice with more detailed plans for pet day but for now:
- Week 10 - Friday 22nd September
- 9-11 Children will be engaged in crafts in class (they may need to bring some supplies - teachers will let you know)
- 11:30-2:00 Calf and lamb judging (we will send a detailed timetable during Week 10). Please also note there is a best dressed section for lambs so get that creativity flowing!
- 12-2 Open school...whānau and children can walk through the classes and look at the crafts, watch the pet judging and view the art exhibition in the hall. Come along...we would love to see you!
- 2pm calf and lamb prize giving followed by the pet parade
- Kauri and Totara will be doing a Pizza lunch fundraiser. $2 a slice. This will need to be pre-ordered on Friday morning.
The art we are creating as part of our art unit will be exhibited in the hall on pet day. During the holidays, we are getting a bit of a hall make over and this art will then be displayed in there (sorry its not coming home just yet!).
*Note - Assembly in the last week will be Thursday afternoon not Friday due to Pet Day.
